Annotated Bibliography & Thesis Statement ON TOPIC – Drowned and Dammed, Colonial Capitalism and Flood Control in Eastern India COMING UP W THESIS STATMENT FROM THE TOPIC BELOW ( 1 THESIS statement YET MANY TOPICS RELATED TO THESIS ) AND SHORT SUMMARIES TOPIC: Colonial Capitalism & Flood Control in Eastern India
so, one main topic – with thesis starment and under thesis statments should be subtopics related to the topic and statement (10-12 of sources) for 8 pages Your annotated bibliography is basically a listing of books, articles, etc. with short summaries of their contents. 12 books/journals/ articles meaning 12 summaries Find articles, newpspaer /journals etc on the topic: Colonial Capitalism & Flood Control in Eastern India
Summaries Bibliographic Entries a) Full bibliographic reference (any style as long as consistent, for books it must have author, title, publisher and year, for other sources enough detail to find them) b) Type of reference: students are required to provide at least 50% academic references (format is not relevant, e.g. electronic sources are acceptable as long as they are academic), other references may be of any kind, e.g. newspaper articles, websites, documentaries, etc. Writing the Summaries The idea of an annotated bibliography is to produce a list of books with short summaries that make clear how these books are related to your thesis. You do not necessarily have to summarize the entire source, only the main points that are relevant to your argument. The length requirements for these summaries varies, here are some guidelines:
a) They should not be too long (1 PARA SUMMARY 1 PARA FOR PART D) b) The summary should be long enough to show me that you have read the source c) The source does not determine the length of the summary in any direct way, a short article may have more information relevant to your topic than a book, and a long book may have less relevant information than a short one. d) You must state clearly how the source will or will not be useful to you in making your argument on determine how science and technology made worse or mitigated the exploitative nature of colonialist practice in that region. SAMPLE SUMMARIES 1. JD Bernal, Science in History, Vol 1, MIT Press, 1971 Bernal’s book is a general history of science that uses the underlying economic and political circumstances of each time period to explain the direction and development of science. Starting with the ancient civilizations and going up to the end of the Medieval period, Bernal links key scientific developments (discoveries, institutions, ideas) to the demands created by the economic structures of society. For example, he argues that the spread of science followed the development of capitalism in early modern society. This book will be useful as Bernal claims that the feudal economy was local, scattered and expanding, rather than centralizing. Medieval Europe lacked centralized government since the collapse of the Roman Empire, new agricultural technologies emphasized expansion rather than centralization, and Medieval hydraulic engineering was not tied to single, large floodplains as was the case in the ancient civilization.
2. W TeBrake, “Taming the Waterwolf: Hydraulic Engineering and Water Management in the Netherlands during the Middle Ages”, Technology & Culture, Vol 43, N 3, July 2002 TeBrake’s article challenges the view that physical conditions in Medieval Holland were generally stable, by arguing for large scale land sublimation due to extensive hydrological engineering for agriculture. He outlines how small interventions to create farmland out of swamp led to greater flooding, and the need for more advanced, large-scale hydrological engineering. The Dutch ended up with a complex system for water management, using increasingly sophisticated technologies. This source will be useful as it shows how a complex, large scale technological system can exist outside of a large-scale, centralized government.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How soon can I get my paper done?

It depends with your deadline. If you need your paper completed in 3 hours, we will deliver it in that time. All you need to do is indicate your deadline in our custom order page here. Alternatively, if you are sending us your instructions via email, please be sure to indicate your deadline.

Will it be completely original? I don't want to be caught in a case of Academic Integrity Violation.

We are as paranoid as you are. Maybe even more! And we understand that the greatest sin you can commit in your academic journey is plagiarizing your academic work. To that end, we have made sure that we check and double-check our papers using high quality plagiarism detection tools such as SafeAssign and Turnitin before submitting the paper to you.

Who is my writer? Is he/she a native English Speaker?

All our writers are native English Speakers. That is not to say that ESL writers are not good, we just prefer hiring native writers because we want the very best people working on your paper. This might mean paying a little bit more for your paper as opposed to when you pay a foreign company whose writers are non-native English Speakers.

What if I need revisions? Will your charge additional for this?

Of course not! If you do happen to require a revision on your paper, our team will handle it for you free of charge. Matter of fact, we won’t rest till you are happy with your paper. So, ask for as many revisions as you need, it’s completely FREE!

Will you give me my money back if I don't like my paper?

We have very few instances where we delivered a paper that a client didn’t fall in love with. But if it so happens that you don’t like your paper for any reason whatsoever, we’ll refund your money back no questions asked.

I have more assignments after this, can you help me with those too?

Of course! And what’s even better is that we can reserve a writer permanently to work on your entire class. This comes in handy for projects which build up on each other and where you need just one writer, one writing style.

I got my order information wrong, can I change that?

Yes you can. Just reach out to our support team via email (support@essaynook.com) or live chat here and they’ll help you change the instructions.

Can I place an order via email instead of going through the order page?

Yes you can. Email Anna at anna@essaynook.com, she’s in charge of our sales team. Alternatively, you can talk to our Live Chat team here and request to speak to Anna.
